Amazon.com is building the CIA’s new $600 million data center, reports the Financial Times. (1) At the same time Amazon.com is building this massive cloud computing infrastructure for the CIA, the company is also shipping millions of Fire TV set-top devices to customers who are placing them in their private homes. I have one myself, and it’s a terrific piece of hardware for delivering Prime video content. In fact, in terms of its usability and specs, it’s far superior to Roku or Netflix-capable devices. Fire TV is, hands down, the best set-top video delivery device on the market today.
But there’s something about it that always struck me as odd: it has no power button. There’s no power button on the remote, and there’s no power button on the box. It turns out there’s no way to power the device off except for unplugging it.
QUNEITRA, Syria –
At least 18 people have been killed in an Israeli air attack in Syria's Quneitra province.
Assad al-Jolani, a representative of a Syrian opposition media center in
Golan and Quneitra, told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday that an Israeli
warplane bombed a governor's building and military stations leaving 18
people dead, including eight civilians and 10 Assad-regime soldiers.
Several people were also wounded.

Tuesday’s so-called cease-fire was unilaterally decreed by the
US-backed Egyptian regime of military strongman Abdel-Fatteh El-Sisi
following talks with the government of Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu. There were no consultations whatsoever with Hamas, whose
leaders said they first learned about it from media reports.
The “cease-fire” appears to have been deliberately designed to ensure
Hamas’s rejection and provide Israel with a pretext for escalating its
assault. General Sisi last year overthrew the Muslim Brotherhood
government of President Mohamed Mursi and organized the massacre of
thousands of Brotherhood supporters. He also jailed Mursi, along with
tens of thousands of others. His regime is now providing tactical
support to Israel in the hopes that it will exterminate Hamas, an
offshoot of the Brotherhood, and thousands of Palestinian civilians

In the mid-sixties at the height of the “social revolution” the line
between democratic benevolence and outright communism became rather
