Questions Linger as U.S. Special Ops Claims Credit for Killing Abu Sayyaf

The fact that the United States and a number of other Western countries are engaged in a bombing campaign inside Syria is evidence enough that the US military is directly involved in combat operations there. That the United States and NATO along with the GCC and Israel have funded, facilitated, trained, and armed the terrorists running rampant across Syria is also well-known. However, with the recent announcement that US Special Forces have conducted a raid in Deir al-Zour marks the first public announcement that US military personnel are physically on the ground inside the country and are conducting military operations.
It is important to point out that the Islamic State is not some shadowy force that emerged from the caves of Afghanistan to form an effective military force that is funded by Twitter donations and murky secretive finance deals. 2012 Defense Intelligence Agency document: West will facilitate rise of Islamic State “in order to isolate the Syrian regime”

The document shows that as early as 2012, U.S. intelligence predicted the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS), but instead of clearly delineating the group as an enemy, the report envisions the terror group as a U.S. strategic asset.
While a number of analysts and journalists have documented long ago the role of western intelligence agencies in the formation and training of the armed opposition in Syria, this is the highest level internal U.S. intelligence confirmation of the theory that western governments fundamentally see ISIS as their own tool for regime change in Syria. The document matter-of-factly states just that scenario.
