"I Am Sorry That It Has Come to This": A Soldier's Last Words

This could happen to any member of the Armed Forces serving their countries overseas today. The incidences of servicemen & women  taking their own lives once back in the "real-world" is increasing. It directly touches many families lives;left to wonder why they couldn't help their loved-one.
Gawker.com has released the suicide note of one such victim - Daniel Somers. He was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.Part of Task Force Lightning, an intelligence unit.

Back in March,2013. Daniel agreed to return to Baghdad in order to meet with his former enemies (“insurgents”) face to face in order to discover why, on a personal level, he and they were literally trying to kill one another, and possibly to find some common ground… Or even redemption. he used "rockethub.com" as a way to crowd-source the funding of the Iraq documentary.
Despite apparently achieving full funding, he still committed suicide. Probably best to read his own words as to why he chose this way to exit life.

  1. I don't believe this letter is genuine.

  2. It's a shame that he felt the need to bear the full brunt of the blame, when he could have used what he saw to raise public awareness.
