The digital ID is not yet a fait accompli, Steve, it goes before the Commons for debate on 8 December. If the asshole does ram it through regardless, it will be consensual to begin with. Hopefully enough folk refuse to comply, but I'm not holding my breath - a lot of late Gen Xers and older Millenials are complete tech heads, incredibly naïve and brainwashed in favour of the State.

I worked in the airline industry back in the 80s/90s, about the same time that the industry was being deregulated re protected routes and landing slots, and air travel became much more affordable to the plebs.
ReplyDeleteI noticed back then how many third worlders were transiting on to Canada, while not so many were going back the other way. I found it strange at the time that Canada would allow so many foreigners in like that. Obviously, now I know better.
That 'open skies' malarkey also enabled the mass spraying of the skies, and a lot of these budget carriers were using the subsidised fuel containing 'other stuff' than just propellant.
All of this dodgy shit (and more) was going on right under our noses but not many had a clue back then, myself included.
Another thing I noticed was how the First Class section was discontinued and the wide-bodies crammed with Monkey Class seats for the plebs. The toffs were getting wealthy enough to operate their own private jets and didn't need the hassle of just how uncomfortable and unreliable airline travel was to become.
