Charles starts the show by talking about the hypocrisy of some believers and then concludes yesterday's topic on apocryphal books of the bible. (2 callers)
Listen Live from 8-10am Eastern on weekdays.
Call in number: 508-422-7010 Massachusetts USA
Charlie revealed at the top that Bible-believing critic said he swears too much. He does swear too much, if he wants his message to be heard by the average Christian, regardless of whether many of them are swearing hypocrites.
As for apocryphal books, Charlie is right that canonical books of the Bible themselves are questionable by the same standards applied to the apocryphal books.
Whether it's fanciful stories (if taken literally), or a change in message over time, you find them in both cases. And regarding just the four Gospels of the New Testament, you see a transition from Jesus as more of a man to more God-like.
Early manuscripts of Mark had nothing to say about saints coming out of their graves and said nothing about Jesus being born of a virgin, as Matthew and Luke later did, likely borrowing from a common source (Q Gospel), and passages of John being taken out of context to say that Jesus is God himself.
I'd seriously doubt that very many Christian's are listening to Charles. I know Christian's who don't cuss but talk about watching R rated movies. Fundies may not cuss but they certainly would never listen to Charles.
Charles' hatred for Christianity blinds him and many to some very important facts. Of course the 'holy' books are corrupted. I think Charles fails to realize he is arguing against Judeo-Christianity, not the few teachings of Jesus of Nazareth that survived. Being a theology major he should know better, and go to the source. Jesus of Nazareth spoke Aramaic, I think you will find there are some very striking differences from the original Aramaic NT to the NT of Rome and beyond...
"Judeo-Christianity
“The only person who has been more lied about than Hitler is Christ.” – George Lincoln Rockwell
Judeo-Christianity is any version of Christianity which accepts the Old Testament (ie. the Tanakh or Jewish Bible) as well as all of the New Testament, and therefore believes that Yahweh (the god of creation revealed through Abraham (Jew), Moses (Jew) and other Jews) and the Heavenly Father (the god of salvation revealed through Jesus) are the same person.
A god of both creation and salvation is a god who offers a solution to a problem that he himself set up in the first place, and then expects to take credit for it. Such a god may exist, but demonstrates by his actions that he is fundamentally an enslaver, in the sense that he places his own creations in captivity from which release is contingent on subjugation. Thus such a god cannot be worshipped by Aryans.
Judeo-Christianity leads to tribalism because it promotes the idea that Yahweh created all other life for the pleasure of the dominant group. It also encourages passivity because it promotes depending upon Jesus – by his sacrifice - having already done the work for us. Furthermore, it leads to conflict with other religions by claiming that dependence upon Jesus is the only way to salvation."
"Gnostic Christianity
“Christ stands never otherwise than erect, never otherwise than upright, eyes flashing in the midst of the creeping Jewish rabble, and the words fall like lashes of the whip: ‘Your father is the devil!’” – Dietrich Eckart
Gnostic Christianity is any version of Christianity which rejects the Old Testament and suspects part of the New Testament to have been written conspiratorially for the purpose of linking it to the Old Testament, and therefore believes that Yahweh and the Heavenly Father are two different people.
Its theology is of Yahweh forcefully imprisoning us within the world he created, and the Heavenly Father sending Jesus to show us the way to freedom. As Yahweh is worshipped by Jews, whose aim is perpetual worldly dominion, so his opposite principle the Heavenly Father is suitable for worship by Aryans, whose aim is final transcendence.
Gnostic Christianity leads to universalism because it promotes the idea of all life as fellow victims of the worldly prison who must unite to break free. It also encourages positivity because it promotes emulation of Jesus’ spiritual journey in our own lives rather than mere dependence upon him. It does not lead to conflict with other religions towards the same goal because the journey can be undertaken with or without Jesus as guide. It will remain opposed only to Judaism and religions similar to it..."
How come Thomas Paine, the man of whom President Adams said: "without the writing of Paine the sword in Washington's hand would have been in vain...." is being ignored ? There are no memorials , high school kids don't know much about this man who put this country on the map. He exposed the " Holy Book " !! Read 'Age of reason' The clique of holy men , Harvard educated "elitists" etc. hated him for that, because he was a man of the people,by the people and for the people. He never saw a university from the inside, but was a far greater intellekt than these corrupt clowns then and now. I noticed also Charles ignores Paine's 'Age of reason', I wonder why .......
@Brian Albritton & Lugh: What difference is there between your mindset and that of any one who is under the spell of organized religion? You listen to the opinion's and research of Charles', without doing any of your own, nor did you read or comprehend my post? You are both no different mentally or spiritually as any Christian...
"The Aramaic New Testament exists in two forms, the classical Aramaic, or Syriac, New Testament, part of the Peshitta Bible,[1] and the "Assyrian Modern" New Testament and Psalms published by the Bible Society in Lebanon (1997) and newly translated from Greek. The official Assyrian Church of the East (known by some as the Nestorian Church) does not recognise the new "Assyrian Modern" edition, and traditionally considers the New Testament of the Peshitta to be the original New Testament, and Aramaic to be its original language. This view was popularised in the West by the Assyrian Church of the East scholar George Lamsa, but is not supported by the majority of scholars, either of the Peshitta or the Greek New Testament..."
@Brian Albritton & Lugh, furthermore your top notch scholar and Theology major Charles' doesn't even realize that the Nazarean sect Jesus of Nazareth belonged to REJECTED THE BOOKS OF MOSES!
Neither one of you are obviously interested in finding the truth, you'd rather have it dictated to you by an expert!
Do you really believe that Charles is more an expert than all of the NSDAP and Hitler himself, who sent researchers to all corners of the earth to find the truth? Do you know why that research is now buried under a mountain of lies?
"The Church Father Epiphanius (writing in the 4th century CE) seems to make a distinction between two main groups within the Essenes:[31] "Of those that came before his [Elxai, an Ossaean prophet] time and during it, the Ossaeans and the Nazarean."[55] Epiphanius describes each group as following:
The Nazarean – they were Jews by nationality – originally from Gileaditis, Bashanitis and the Transjordan… They acknowledged Moses and believed that he had received laws – not this law, however, but some other. And so, they were Jews who kept all the Jewish observances, but they would not offer sacrifice or eat meat. They considered it unlawful to eat meat or make sacrifices with it. They claim that these Books are fictions, and that none of these customs were instituted by the fathers. This was the difference between the Nazarean and the others…[56]
After this Nazarean sect in turn comes another closely connected with them, called the Ossaeans. These are Jews like the former… originally came from Nabataea, Ituraea, Moabitis and Arielis, the lands beyond the basin of what sacred scripture called the Salt Sea… Though it is different from the other six of these seven sects, it causes schism only by forbidding the books of Moses like the Nazarean.[55]
If it is correct to identify the community at Qumran with the Essenes (and claim that the community at Qumran are the authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls), then according to the Dead Sea Scrolls the Essenes' community school was called "Yahad" (meaning "community") in order to differentiate themselves from the rest of the Jews who are repeatedly labeled "The Breakers of the Covenant"."

@Christian reuter:
ReplyDeleteThere is NO Aramaic version of the NT... it was written in GREEK. What does that tell you?
If you had listened to Charlies shows the past few years, you would know this.
Call him and debate him if you have info disproving his theories from historical documents. Thst would be entertaining.
