Duke didn't ride the Trump train to victory (only 3%), and predictably and badly so, for explicitly using race as opposed to implicitly using it as a purely political tactic, as Trump did. Duke should've hung up his political aspirations after losing the competitive '88 Louisiana run for governor after serving as a representative in their House. I hadn't noticed until this election that he ran for various offices after that. It'd be just like Pat Buchanan trying to make a comeback today -- once you've had your run and didn't make it after a couple tries, your chances of making a big comeback are effectively zero, even without a total media and political assault against you when you get some public attention (the debate).
