Israeli Prosecutors Say They Plan to Charge Netanyahu in Corruption Cases

Israel’s attorney-general intends to indict Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over alleged corruption, the Justice Ministry said on Thursday.

The announcement, marking the first time a serving Israeli prime minister has been put on official notice of planned prosecution, deepened uncertainty over Netanyahu’s prospects in a tightly contested election to be held in April.

Netanyahu, who has denied any wrongdoing in the three long-running corruption investigations against him, was due to deliver a televised statement later in the day. He has already said he has no intention of resigning.
