The Australian governthemental people really have their ducks in a row

Snipers to cull up to 10,000 camels in drought-stricken Australia

(Apparently the indigenous people can not "take care" of the herd of camels themselves. They must all still be stuck in a kindergarten curriculum. It's not as if white Australians have better things to do these days.)

Snipers took to helicopters in Australia on Wednesday to begin a mass cull of up to 10,000 camels as drought drives big herds of the feral animals to search for water closer to remote towns, endangering indigenous communities.

Local officials in South Australia state said "extremely large" herds have been encroaching on rural communities—threatening scarce food and drinking water, damaging infrastructure, and creating a dangerous hazard for drivers.

It comes after Australia experienced its hottest and driest year on record in 2019, with the severe drought causing some towns to run out of water and fueling deadly bush fires that have devastated the country's southeast.

The five-day cull in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands—home to about 2,300 indigenous people in the north-west of South Australia—is the first in the state, local media reported.

"These (camel) groups are putting pressure on the remote Aboriginal communities in the APY Lands and the pastoral operations as the camels search for water," the APY Lands executive committee said in a statement.

South Australia's environment department, which is supporting the aerial cull, said the drought had also created "critical animal welfare issues" as some camels have died of thirst or trampled each other as they rush to find water.

  1. I saw this on Tuesday and it completely sickened me. They already lost around a billion animals from the fires. My respect for Australia is gone.

  2. I don't believe their "a billion animals" thing but the whole thing does sicken me too. The Australian people are great. The "leadership" is to blame.

  3. I heard on the radio that some people were selling camel meat dog food. Certain times of year the camels eat certain plants that make the meat poisoness for dogs. The dogd died and the firm stopped seeling the dog food.
I also heard on the radio they were selling the wild camels to the arabs. They should have sold them.
We have lots feral animals. The bores are dangerous. They are letting all the crocodiles increase, so up north if you go for swim, you may get, eaten. Also the sharks adapt to the less salty water, and I saw a show on TV where the river was full of sharks and crocodiles. They say they roll you under the water and drown you. The kangaroos hold dogs under the water and drown them. I did ajob for a guy in Kangaroo Ground (town). His driveway was about half a mile long. There were hundreds of kangaroos, I had to beep the horn to get through. He said they watched a kangaroo sit in the middle of thedam one day, for hours, waiting for dogs to drown. Then one day he was in the swamp and a kangaroo tried to drown his mate,so he hit it with a shovel, and saved his mate.

  4. As a kid, I was always told the only time a kangaroo will attack, is when they are cornered. But that is not true. Once I was doing a job near Bendigo. I was having trouble finding the site, and asked a lady. She agreed it was next to her house. It was full of kangaroos. I said to the lady about how I saw on TV how a kangaroo hid in a backyard, waiting for a lady to come out and hang out her washing to dry, then the kangaroo attacked her and someone had to rescue her, The lady said this is the town. I bipped the horn and the kangaroos bolted over the fences. They have guard kangaroos that tend to stay, while the others run.
