Thanks for the edits, Zap. My mic kept disconnecting and that cuts my recording.

You're welcome Fetch. My upload speed is the same as it's been since 2005 but since archive.org came back online a few months ago it takes me more than double the time to upload the file. It should take between 15 to 20 minutes at the most but now it takes 45 to 60 minutes. Crazy.

My upload speed is a ridiculously slow 80kb/s. Why would they throttle that?

That is ridiculously slow. It is not that bad from Saudi.

Yeah, I'm still on copper DSL but by choice.

Well...I am travelling soon so may be on crappy Philippines mobile networks as I understand they stopped paying the fiber there. It is gonna suck..

Why is that zap? I am still on DSL, but genuinely curious about your reason.

My reason is that the cable was laid by Virgin, who are 'pants' (that's British slang for no fucking good), and BT, the former national telecom monopolists are just excellent, and I have no reason to change.

Honestly - I can't recall the last time I was on copper. I know it was in Jordan and perhaps around 2017 or so? Saudi has really good 4G. 5G is here but it eats my battery and the tower signal is so bad it disconnects half the time. The Philippines is known as having one of the worst Internet services on a global ranking scale. The region I am in, the ranking is considered to be a D grade, F being failing. The region is ranked around 87th globally.

Fixed Internet, although improved, costs like 11% of the average gross income, which is why they never pay the bills and there are such high disconnect rates. Fixed Internet is still ranked around 85 on a global country rating, meaning there are 84 superior countries.
