A translation of Agamben’s blog, 11 May 2020
What is striking about the reactions to the apparatuses of exception that have been put in place in our country (and not only in this one) is the inability to observe them beyond the immediate context in which they seem to operate. Rare are those who attempt to interpret them as symptoms and signs of a broader experiment — as any serious political analysis would require — in which what is at stake is a new paradigm for the governance of men and things.

Good post Chain!
Though I have many issues with Michel Foucalt, he helped lay the foundation of the whole notion of 'biopower.' He helped many see the link between the human body and the application of organized social-scientific knowledge which is now coming to its completion with this whole totalitarian, cybernetic, ID2020 project we're being forced into. He warned of the enormous dangers that were on the horizon when technology serves ideology. Agamben has developed some of those ideas even further.
I've included a video on Agamben's postmodern classic, 'Homo Sacer' by John David Ebert. Ebert is a master at breaking down difficult philosophical texts.

I do not know how much you've read Chain, but 3 works that are historically foundational to some of the issues that Kaczynsky addresses in his 'Manifesto' are:
1-'Man and Technics'- Oswald Spengler
2-'The Question Concerning Technology'- Martin Heidegger
3-'The Technological Society'- Jacques Ellul
If you haven't read these, they are worth your time and are connected in many ways. Keith Woods put together a great video on the whole problematic of technology in our time. Keith also brings up Andrew Feenberg who expanded on the work of all 3 and is worth reading as well because he is a contemporary and incorporates the most recent technological developments into the uncertainty of our age. As Heidegger stated, technology was to be THE central problem for man in the 21st Century, but, for him, the problem could NOT be solved by technological means.
I'm just now starting to delve into Feenberg writings myself. Challenging! Anyhow, I thought I'd just pass these by you!

Also Chain, the guys at 'Myth of the 20th Century' podcast did a superb piece on Kaczynski and his life and thought. I've always felt some of the shows that 'Myth' does would fit right in here at Miami's, but that is not my decision to make. Here it is:
