The driver of an empty fuel tanker was using his cell phone to look at Facebook when he crashed into three police cars and two fire department trucks on Interstate 8 in May, killing an Arizona Department of Public Safety officer.
The truck driver, Jorge Espinoza, is charged with second-degree murder and other crimes. Video is from the Arizona Department of Public Safety. At 8 seconds into the video, the driver's phone can be seen flying up as the impact occurred.

I am surprised that sort of thing doesn't happen more often. That's tragic... that's truly sad.
I feel bad for the trucker because who would want to be in his shoes. There is no way you would let yourself off the hook for a thing like that happening. I don't think all the murder charges are justified... it was an accident, albeit an accident borne of stupidity... an accident nonetheless.
with any luck, the cop who parked the car halfway in the highway without lights blazing was the dumb ass killed. If not .. it should have been. If that car was pulled behind the cars instead of on the tarmac, I doubt the truck was gonna hit the car. Bad decision by an officer wrecks countless lives. No wonder they removed the slogan "to protect and serve" from the squad cars.
Parking on a freeway lane is inviting disaster plain and simple. But because it was a cop I'm sure that won't taken into consideration at the trial.
Second degree murder usually requires an intent to murder. That charge is just stupid in this case, but I guess the bar is raised when one of the government gang members gets hurt. The cop should be nominated for a Darwin award.
