I know "a little" about health, nutrition, medicine, supplementation, etc., and I am here to tell you all very directly that sodium is ABSOLUTELY necessary in large amounts for optimum health.
IN-FACT, you can do the research yourselves, and you will find that studies have been shown that when sodium was restricted, those who had in-takes of LARGE amounts of sodium were much less likely to have heart-failure than those on the restricted diet!!!
The problem with sodium is two-fold: 1. YOU MUST drink an adequate amount of WATER to ensure that the sodium is sufficiently diluted, and 2. YOU MUST have an adequate amount of POTASSIUM in the diet, which the vast majority of the population does not.
I am so sick-and-tired of people talking about health and nutrition issues, and in-reality, know jack-shit about what they are talking.
..."Low salt diets contribute to an increase in hormones and lipids in the blood. A 2012 study in the American Journal of Hypertension found that people on low-salt diets developed higher plasma levels of renin, cholesterol, and triglycerides. (5) The authors concluded that the slight reduction in blood pressure was overshadowed by these antagonistic effects, and that sodium restriction may have net negative effects at a population level."...
This is only ONE article, but if you people search for salt restricted diet dangerous, you will find MANY articles telling you the truth about how critically-important sodium is to the diet, and if restricted, CAN CAUSE CATASTROPHIC EFFECTS ON THE BODY-SYSTEM.
People need to educate themselves before they start talking about things of which they have very limited knowledge.
Agreed Lindsey. Giuliani is an idiot in many regards. Salt is very important and should be consumed at every meal. 99.9% of people have ZERO problem with salt. Only a small % of genetically defective people have a hard time with salt. That is what the Jew Media does though, they take an exception and turn it into a generality.
I had someone on Skype ask me about this, so here is what "I" do to ensure that I have an adequate amount of potassium in my diet:
I buy the two-quart container of V-8 High Fiber, and put six "tads", which is six 1/4 teaspoons of potassium chloride, which is "No Salt Salt". There is sufficient sodium in the V-8, and the addition of the potassium chloride basically raises the potassium level to what would be found in "Low-Sodium V-8", and the additional fiber is only beneficial. What most people do not realize is that the "Low-Sodium V-8" is only "low-sodium" because of the addition of the potassium chloride, which is very cheap, and a very good supplement, when used very carefully, and ONLY EVER TAKEN WITH FOOD, as taking too much potassium too quickly--as in a salt-alternative--can be problematic for certain people, so talk with your physician before doing this, as this is only what "I" do for myself.
I really hope that people here at Mr. Grizzom's site research how critically-important sodium in large amounts is for health, and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! drink about one gallon of WATER--NEVER drink "sodas" and juices are NOT "water"--per day to ensure kidney health and proper dilution of an electrolytes. As I said, the main problem that people, in-general, have with sodium in-take is that they are NOT drinking enough water.
It is really that simple.
Lindsey
NB: I also drink two glasses of orange juice per day, as there is a large amount of potassium in the orange juice, and one glass of the V-8 mixture, two glasses of orange juice, and a good amount of vegetables per day, will ensure a nearly 100% RDA of potassium.
White Table Salt is not a health food... Most junk food is loaded with salt... A salt addict can't go without salt... The body takes time adjusting to a salt free diet... I do crave salty food once maybe once a week... But for the most part salty foods now taste horrible... I'm much happier leaving the salt behind... Giuliani is right salt is in all foods naturally but a salt addict can't eat without adding salt the same way a sugar addict can't satisfy their sweet tooth with naturally sweet fruit... Ps: V8 is not a health food... Please buy a juicer and make your own juice it's not hard at all... And don't take health advice from unhealthy people... Ask an athlete but not a young one but one who's past 50 and is living example... My tips for health... 1. Sleep 8+ hours 2. Sunlight and see the sunrise 3. Drink lots of fresh clean water... Fluoride Clouride Free 4. Fruits for breakfast example eat a whole melon 5. Greens eat a large organic salad minus the salad dressing... Add fruit for flavor 6. Exercise preferably fitness before work or play with the kids 7. Have fun during work... 8. Protein "lightly cooked in just water" no salt no msg no sauce... w/ veggies 9. Desert should always be simply organic fresh fruit like a bowl of berries 10. Relax take a shower and go to bed early... The End It's that easy
Ps: I always take my health advice from nature. Show me another animal that's puts salt on every meal before eating... A few may once in a blue moon eat raw salt but show me one that east salt 3+ times a day... I get my salt from swimming in the ocean... If your overweight you need to get off the salt or you won't ever lose that weight. I get my salt from the raw whole foods not can or processed shit
