Earlier in this series on St. Paul, Charlie raised the important matter of Paul's non-mention of the Virgin Birth. As Charlie rightly pointed out, Paul makes it a habit of expounding of various theological issues and symbolism, yet says nary a word about the Virgin Birth, and in fact says Jesus was descended from David according to the flesh.

Since Paul's writings are all dated before the Gospels, and the earliest Gospel writing, Mark, makes no mention of the Virgin Birth, I don't see any evidence of the earliest Christians having such a notion, and it's remarkable that it's not found in John, considering that is the one that is different from the other three and is used to justify the unbiblical Trinity teaching that is now said to be an essential element of Christian faith -- Catholic and Protestant.
