Lynyrd Skynyrd BS

Lynyrd Skynyrd had established themselves as one of the most successful rock bands of the ’70s by the time they released Street Survivors in October 1977. The group’s career would come to a tragic halt just three days later, on Oct. 20, 1977, when their twin engine plane went down in a swamp in Gillsburg, Miss., killing three of the band members, a tour manager and both pilots on impact. The group had put together a string of iconic hits including “Free Bird,” “Gimme Three Steps,” “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Gimme Back My Bullets” prior to the release of Street Survivors. Anticipation for the new album was so high that it went gold within days, and Lynyrd Skynyrd embarked on the most ambitious headlining tour of their career, traveling between concert dates in their own Convair CV-300. Rock legend has it that Aerosmith had looked into renting the same plane earlier in the year, but passed on it due to concerns over both the safety of the plane, and the readiness of its crew. Lynyrd Skynyrd were traveling from Greenville, S.C., to Baton Rouge, La., when their plane apparently ran out of fuel toward the end of the flight. The pilots attempted to land on a small air strip, but the bottom of the plane clipped some trees, and the aircraft went down in a remote stand of forest. Skynyrd singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, vocalist Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray were killed instantly, while the other band members and road crew suffered terrible injuries. Drummer Artimus Pyle and two crew members crawled from the wreckage and hiked through swampy woods until they finally flagged down a local farmer, who sent for help. I remember that shocking news report well, Walter Cronkite said that the rock band "Len-yerd Skin-yerd" had been involved in a fatal plane crash.

I didn't realize there were 26 people on board and only 6 died, a veritable miracle given the utter devastation of the plane. The primary reason for that was that they were out of gas, otherwise they all would have been incinerated.

The Convair 240 was a rugged little workhorse (the military version was the C-131 which we had at my USAF duty station), but it's virtually unheard of for one to run out of gas and, of course, Tripple "A" won't respond. The flight crew flat fucked up and ended up running out of ideas and altitude at the exact same time. They should have visually checked the tanks.

Of course Neg will spew endless screeds about how Lynyrd Skynyrd was fake and it was all staged at Lookout Mountain, no plane or passengers, just CGI and vic-sims (rolls eyes). 'Course the dudes an Armenian, just sayin'.

@Erik Paul

Shut up and go clean your room. You don't have the intellectual capacity to argue with grown adults.

I never said any rock star deaths were faked, Jim Fetzer, an obvious deep cover shill, is the one that brought that BS up with Paul is Faul and other pointless disinfo. Political murders of Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, Cobain and Zappa, possibly, faked hoaxes rarely, because it's not very hard to whack one person, especially rock stars who often have drug and alcohol problems, and deal with the cover-up of one single whacking.

I never said JFK's or any of the Kennedy's deaths were faked either. And I never promoted "Fakeologist" or "Abirato," only the work of Simon Shack, by far the greatest "truther" of the past 10 years and a living legend whose theory of 9/11 has yet to be refuted, almost 10 years after September Clues

But gatekept and bamboozled (by plane-hugging agents or useful idiots like Bollyn & Sabrosky and Loose Change and Prostink) nobodies like you will twist anything and everything not to have to face reality and deal with proven facts.

"Spew"?

"Rolls Eyes"?

What do you think this is a 4 year olds convention?

lol

Don't wet your diapers now, infant boy, get a few more brain cells, strain harder and maybe a whole bowl of stank will one day come out and surprise you!

lol

LOL! That's just what I wanted to see!

I've been missing those blasts of Negentropical verbal diarrhea since Mami's went dark so I put out a little bait and look what I caught! Ha Ha

BTW, "Ron Jeremy (Erik Paul's best friend, lol)" I suspect the Brown Bomber is psychologically projecting.
