As someone who was over-educated through the collegiate system, in the world religious traditions--let me say that all of them have been corrupted or were designed to be controlled oppositions. In other words, don't both with religions, except with the 3 originals of Taoism or Buddhism or Nazorean (which has been stripped away, hidden whereabouts unknown).
Reality is Obviousness, Fruiting out as Ordinariness. My old saying goes "If your God is not Obvious, then your god is demigod, especially the ones who are jealous and demand blood sacrifice (i.e. voodoo, semitic, etc.)
As a child, I was someone who just-could-not kill a animal or fish...as an athlete, my organic farmer grandad assumed that I would take to killing chickens like a fish takes to water but my heart just wasn't in it, always letting them go. hahha, I liked vegetables and fruits more anyway. Grow Your Own became my motto, with Build Your Own, too.
