So he prorogues (freezes) parliament for 90 days while they find a new Liberal leader. So instead of a non confidence vote in late January (in theory) and triggering an election (probably by June-ish), we could be waiting much longer.
This was a stall tactic, plain and simple.
Now Gagmeat doesn't have to fulfill his promise of a non confidence vote because Trudeau has left (after finding a new leader)... End of the day, it's business as usual, they can still cram laws through in some capacity.
The election may be earlier than November, but dont count on it being much earlier, if at all. It also gives the Liberal party a chance to regain some support with a new candidate. Devil you know vs. The devil you don't. Does it matter? Probably not, it's still likely to end the same but timelines change.
