I'm glad I'm not in the USA. If I was I would be looking to get out ASAP before they seal the borders (like Soviet Russia did).
That's a hell of a lot of border to seal... and with the constant commercial traffic in and out, it would be difficult to police... you can't compare the two; the USSR was more or less commercially locked down from the outside world and it's population subjected to the brutal and rapid standardisation of communism.
Their building a "Smart Wall" so everyone will be monitored with drones, camareas, motoon detiction, hear sensor at night,etc.
