Texas family plagued with ailments gets $3M in 1st-of-its-kind fracking judgment

Fracking, which is short for hydraulic fracturing, is the process by which drillers pump large amounts of water mixed with sand and chemicals into a shale or rock formation. The wells can be deeper than 8,000 feet, and the process fractures the shale around the well, allowing the natural gas in the shale to flow freely.
Lisa Parr said that she knew by July 2010 that the "loud operation" next door to their ranch was toxic.
"One night, our whole house was vibrating and shaking. We lease that property for our cattle and so I went over there to make sure our cattle wasn't around there, and when I went over there my nose and throat started burning."
Parr called the state Commission on Environmental Quality.
"My doctor, an internal specialist, found 20 chemicals in my body and he said, 'Lisa you must move immediately. You will spend more time and money on hospitals, chemotherapy, and a mortician ... and you need to get an environmental health doctor immediately,' " she said.

A few years ago GMOs weren’t even on the radar, today, GMOs and the pesticides that accompany them have been completely banned in numerous countries all over the world.  I’ve mentioned this in my other GMO articles before, but I will mention it again, when it comes to GMOs, we really have no idea what the long term effects will be on the public. The very first commercial sale of GMOs was only twenty years ago in the year 1994. There is no possible way that our health authorities can test all possible combinations on a large enough population, over a long enough period of time to be able to say with certainty that they are completely harmless.  I also think it’s important to note that biotech corporations have been caught lying before. They’ve recently been caught using deceptive semantics of pesticide formulations and their regulations. A new study recently published in the journal Biomedical Research International shows how roundup herbicide is 125 more toxic than regulators claimed.

Steven Spielberg launches center for genocide research

Filmmaker Steven Spielberg is establishing a Center for Advanced Genocide Research at the University of Southern California.
The formation of the new center was announced in a press conference Friday. Its primary goals will be to investigate the conditions leading to genocides and how to intervene in time to prevent such mass violence and slaughter.
Spielberg founded what is now the USC Shoah Foundation 20 years ago following release of his Oscar-winning movie, “Schindler’s List.”
“The USC Shoah Foundation has made tremendous progress during its first 20 years, but its work is far from finished,” Spielberg said in a statement, noting the 52,000 testimonies it has gathered and the educational programs it has launched.
“Now comes the next significant chapter, one that establishes the Institute as one of the leading academic centers of excellence for the study of the Holocaust and genocides,” he said. “The potential is there for groundbreaking research.”              ***Read full article here***
