The ultimate goal is to create chaos in Lebanon sufficient enough
to disrupt Hezbollah's operations regionally
against the army of terrorist the US and its regional allies, including
supporters of "YouStink!" helped organize as far back as 2007. As in
the past, protests in Lebanon are aimed not at improving the future of
the Lebanese people, but aimed instead at disrupting the stability of
neighboring Syria.
What follows these disingenuous protests is likely a rerun of what
followed the so-called "Cedar Revolution" in 2005. After that admittedly
US-backed protest and the withdrawal of Syrian troops from Lebanon,
Israel conducted extensive air raids and even a ground invasion of the
country in the following year. Despite the impression that the "Cedar
Revolution" left Lebanon particularly vulnerable, US-backed Israeli
operations against Lebanon ended catastrophically for Tel Aviv. The air
campaign failed to achieve any strategic or even tactical objectives and
the ground invasion was essentially repelled with Israel calling off
the operation before reaching the Litani River - the stated objective of
Israeli ground forces.
