Deanna Spingola's guest today, Karl Burgart, keeps reporting on health miracles he’s experienced after consuming “real” organic olive oil from Greece. His arthritis disappeared; he experienced a Kundalini-like electrical experience up his spine after tasting this oil for the first time; a friend of his experienced electricity through his head, etcetera, all these amazing experiences as a result of consuming Olea olive oil from Greece. The more he talked, the less I believe him no more than the average traveling snake oil salesman.

This is a paraphrase but his spiel goes something like this:

“Greeks don’t need probiotics because they get them from real food, not from a pill. Europeans are kinder and more grounded than Americans because they all have gardens. Everybody smokes in Europe but the cancer rates are lower in Europe than in America because their food is more organic. All the cold pressed extra virgin olive oil you’ve bought and used is impure and garbage; only Olea is certified pure olive oil. Buy it now. Of course, I can’t guarantee that you will experience electricity down your spine; I can’t guarantee that your arthritis will be cured. I can only tell you what has been MY experience using this wonderful, completely pure Olea olive oil.”

This Olea olive oil likely is quite pure and wonderful, but somehow "amazing stories" have to be part of how this product is getting pitched.

All good points Signifier. You probably don't need me to say that but i find your commentary to be more well rounded than what is usually found.

I was just about to listen again due to too many distractions the first go through... and it is difficult to get quality olive oil (or anything else for that matter), the tips will help.

So, i will listen again, and like you, i can leave the hype behind. It's like evangelizing... don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining... that's a turn off.

I wonder how many click through to the ads on JewTube? I can hope not many.

Wanda,

Thanks for your words. I like this site and want to give it some balance or sobriety. Noor is also a good one for this, too, I've noticed.

Coconut oil (organic extra virgin) is pretty great too, but it does not meet up, in my experience, with all the hype I've heard about it. It's good. It's just not some kind of miracle.

It was interesting to learn how refined oils are added into even organic olive oil. But the only way you can know if you've got the best is to get the science lab test results, look to see if there is sediment on the bottom, buy Olea, and/or taste the product for yourself. Even if you have "the best" organic olive oil, with less than 0.124 acidity, are we going to experience an extraordinary sense of health? Too much alkalinity is not good for us either. . .

I hear you... i like this site too... even though i got treated fairly unfairly some time back during the Kyle Hunt days... i still like this site. It does a great service, and that is why i am still here. Women are tenacious.

And i like Noor, have noticed the commentary... i follow Snippets and Snappets... i disagree on the whole religion thing, but i don't view her as having an agenda... and if she does, she's very good because i've not detected it yet. That's a compliment Noor.

Coconut oil... excellent to pop popcorn in. It's a favorite in my house... and i highly recommend extra butter too.

But other that that... these oils are beneficial because they are not Crisco or oleo or canola oil or hydrogenated oils. We need a varied palate of plants and herbs and fungi for optimal health... and the good news is they are found everywhere.

Finally, i've heard (and i've seen) that a good test for "is your olive oil genuine" is to put it in a small glass and put it in the fridge. If it clouds up, it is "the kind".

Wanda,

I heard of that test before and thanks for the suggestion.

I have a certified organic bottle of olive oil from Italy, Colavita (extra virgin olive oil) I had put in the refrigerator for some reason, and it is cloudy, but it's also totally frozen now. My refrigerator apparently is very cold. I have to wait to let it go to room temperature. . . .
