The Muslim Brotherhood took part in the 1954 Egyptian coup d'état by
General Mohammed Naguib. They were to eliminate
Gamal Abdel Nasser,
who had opposed Naguib. Not only did they fail, but on October 26th
Nasser took power and went on to subdue both the Brotherhood
and Naguib.
