I personally still see unawareness more than self censorship as the biggest barrier. In corporate circles LBGT , diversity and inclusive policies certainly are training people to self censor. I see these items being included in internal job posting in my place of work. Im sure if it was challenged you could win the argument but you'd be unqualified for the job compared to the candidate who will lick ass. Furthermore, the terms of service contract is blotting out any constitutional position in online world.
