Damn! I did have a date with the Final Four and figured id check this out while getting going. I couldnt put it down. This is waaaaay beyond my pay grade . I had to get this in while fresh..First and foremost , i was not aware of what a political disaster CO was, thinking the taxes on Bleu Dream were helping things out. Panzer - I moved to OB/Point Loma area in the early 1990's - must have just missed you. That's a trip. Back then, OB was the 'bad beach town' - lots of hippies, Hells Angels. surf nazis, ex-military and far out characters. My grandparents lived in Point Loma since the 1940's so I used to spend the summers there since I was a kid. My grandfather was retired military and he used to go swimming at the MCRD almost every day. Maybe we crossed paths somehow....
You're exactly right about OB lol. I left before the 90's. Point Loma was where the Top Gun love scene was filmed iirc. I used to dive off Sunset Cliffs until a near drowning episode. I've seen the subs at the base from an aircraft carrier. Drank beer with Metallica at the Whiskey in Hollywood. Great memories from a better time.
