Widespread interest in the 'Protocols' truly intensified after Victor Marsden brought them to England in 1920 and translated them into English from Russian at the British Museum. It was his publication that really caused an explosion of interest in this document worldwide.
We have to understand the importance that the fearful impact the Bolshevik Revolution had on ALL Western and Christian nation-states at that time. It was palpable and significant! Many people in Europe were absolutely terrified that their country would be next on the chopping-block, by the then suspected "worldwide conspiracy." News and rumors of the unbridled and murderous despotism of the Bolsheviks had more than made there way into these European countries by this time.
Just afterwards(approx 1924?), Henry Ford said, "the 'Protocols' have fitted the world situation up to this time; they fit it now." His statement is still applicable in our world, just over a century later. Not too long after the 'Protocols' starting becoming somewhat recognized, did the organized and aggressive Jewish campaign against them in the press begin, which really hasn't stopped since.
For me personally, the 'Protocols' is easily one of the most intimidating and formidable political texts I've ever read. Their foreknowledge, and their strategically planned subjugation of governments and the media, along with the deliberately focused assault on, and intentional exploitation of, "human weaknesses" is harrowing to say the least. The confident, and even arrogant, knowledge they explicate as you read through each protocol definitely gives one pause and hesitation, especially if one lacks one's own confidence about human nature and its redeemable potential. The diagnostic exactitude of outcomes and the almost malicious satisfaction that each protocol exudes, can definitely leave the reader feeling disarmed and helpless about any potential resolutions arising,...at least in our immediate future!
