I love ya fetch but you totally spinned the incident on your show today with hyperbolic revisionism because you're biased (understandably so). And you were swearing like a sailor (so much for the fcc huh? lol). I disagree with your opinion, here's mine: this lady was not on the sidewalk in her car, she was blocking the road with her partner and suv not letting ice vehicles pass for 15 minutes. She was clearly antagonizing the operation. Now, to say they just walked up and shot her is clearly false. The agent was in front of her vehicle and she accelerated head on with her partner yelling "drive baby drive!". Had he not gotten out of the way he would of been run over. There's an interesting back story to this agent: 6 months earlier he was dragged by an illegal in his car for 300 feet and needed 33 stitches in his leg. So to say he feared for his life is credible. It is SOP for law enforcement to establish a perimeter for operations like these. The agents did have POLICE marked on their uniforms
That said it is a tragedy and I do think ice is becoming more aggressive, but for this incident there are extenuating circumstances for why this accident happened and objective details are important. This is basically the first American citizen dead at the hands of ice to my recollection. This lady was a mom, why is she following ice around everywhere they go? And why is ice not conducting these operations at 3am to avoid confrontations with these liberal soccer moms? Perhaps the Trump administration wants more of these tragedies to happen to inflame both sides of the political aisle.
Also some advice, I wouldn't compare how they do things in Saudi with American enforcement. Don't Saudis gun down border jumpers in cold blood? This was a humanitarian watch story. Also your description of tribal law in Saudi sounds barbaric to me. So you're saying if one Saudi officer unlawfully kills someone from another tribe, that tribe can kill a relative of the officer and not the officer himself? That's collective punishment and sounds crazy to me. That's the difference between Islamic and western justice.
One other point: one of the bullets the agent fired was in the windshield. He cannot have made that shot if he was not in front of the vehicle, and he was clearly hit and grazed by the car by moving quickly out of the way.. Not justifying the shooting, just making a point. I'm not happy she's dead, but shit like this can happen tragically in the flash of a second.
The prevention of medical aid to the woman I totally agree with you on, fetch. That is totally unjustifiable. There needs to be accountability on ice for that.
