John Kaminski mentioned those who say only Ashkenazi Jews are the problem, and said he doesn't agree with that.

Maimonides is considered the greatest rabbi of medieval times, and he was Sephardic, not Ashkenazi, and he taught that it was OK for a Jewish doctor to withhold treatment from a non-Jew, unless it would put Jews at physical risk.

Put that in contrast with the "Father of (Western) Medicine," the Greek Hippocrates, 1600 years earlier, who created an oath around doing no harm (to any patient, regardless of ethnic origin), the principles of which are still applied to the oath today.

"As a retaliative measure, or for fear of accusation, the Rabbis forbade Jewish midwives and nurses to engage themselves in Gentile families, unless offered a fee for the service or to avoid enmity (ib.). The same rule applied to physicians (Maimonides, "Yad," 'Akkum, ix. 16)."
